The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents has approved a collective bargaining agreement with the EMU International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America Local 1976 (EMU UAW 1976). This agreement represents the regular full-time and part-time non-academic and/or non-faculty professional technical and administrative employees. The agreement is based on a tentative deal reached between Eastern Michigan University and EMU UAW Local 1976, which was ratified by the union's bargaining unit on December 2. Key elements of the agreement include a three-year duration retroactive from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027. Salary increases are structured as follows: a 3.25% increase for the first year retroactive to July 1, 2024; a 3.0% increase in the second year; and a 2.75% increase in the third year.

"The negotiating teams did a fantastic job and should be credited for their hard work during the process," said Kathy Stacey, associate vice president and chief human resources officer at Eastern Michigan University.

The administration team involved in reaching this agreement included John Randle Sr., Mia VanSlyke, Erin Green, Rhonda Fowler, Bill Jones, and Rebecca Craigmile. The UAW Local 1976 team consisted of Brian Filipiak, Benjamin Jellema, Andy Zerkel, Patric Daugherty, Christopher Longerbeam, and Michael Shumaker.
