Eastern Michigan University is hosting a series of events throughout March to celebrate Women’s History Month. The Women's Resource Center at the university aims to recognize the achievements and contributions of women in various fields through these events, which focus on leadership, resilience, and empowerment.
The month-long celebration will include dynamic speakers, panels, and discussions. Highlights of the program are:
- **International Women’s Day Celebration**: Scheduled for March 4, 2025, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the EMU Student Center Ballroom. This event will feature Toni Pressley-Sanon, an associate professor of Africology and African American Studies. It includes an international panel discussion and cultural engagement activities.
- **Women of Color Symposium**: Set for March 11, 2025, from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the EMU Student Center Ballroom B. The symposium will explore wellness, resilience, and activism strategies with thought leaders and community voices.
- **EmpowHER Conference and Gala**: On March 19, 2025, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., taking place at EMU McKenny Hall Ballroom. Guest speakers include Staci Williams and Timothy Hill from Black Male Educators Alliance. The event features a Heart2Heart Talk Show Panel.
- **Women of Excellence Award Ceremony and Luncheon**: Occurring on March 26, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m. at EMU Student Center Room 310 A/B. Keynote speaker Tiffany Mensah from D.O.V.E.S Network will honor students, faculty, and community leaders for their achievements.
