Cybercrime continues to rise, posing a significant threat to individuals, businesses, and national security. With global costs estimated at over $10 trillion annually and more than 400 million people affected in the U.S., the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals is critical.

In response to this growing demand, GameAbove contributed $1.6 million in 2023 to Eastern Michigan University’s (EMU) cybersecurity program. This funding aims to prepare students with the necessary skills to address cyber threats and protect vital systems globally.

“GameAbove’s interest in the school’s Cybersecurity program is unwavering,” stated Keith J. Stone, chairman and founder of GameAbove. “We recognize the threats to our country and citizens, so anything we can do to help prepare bright young minds to fend off those dangers is worth our financial commitment.”

Since its inception in 2005, EMU's cybersecurity program has been a leader in education, with nearly 700 graduates achieving almost 100% job placement. Graduates have started careers at companies like Google, Amazon, CrowdStrike, General Electric, Cisco, SensCy, Snapchat, Bosch, Textron, Judy Security and others. The university's online master's program ranks among the top affordable programs for 2025 by Cybersecurity Guide.

“The demand for cybersecurity experts is increasing every day,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of Eastern Michigan University’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “Thanks to GameAbove’s generous contribution, we have expanded our program, enhanced our resources and provided our students with cutting-edge technology and training. EMU’s cybersecurity program stands out as one of the best in the world.”

Sill Hall's recent renovation provides spaces that enhance learning and collaboration. EMU’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology offers comprehensive cybersecurity education from undergraduate degrees to a Ph.D. concentration.

As cyber threats evolve rapidly, organizations face challenges safeguarding sensitive data and infrastructure. GameAbove acknowledges EMU's excellence in fields such as education and psychology while noting that engineering programs are gaining national recognition.
