Eastern Michigan University is collaborating with the Work and Play Disability Community Center to host "The E3: Embrace, Educate, Empower Conference." The event will take place on Friday, April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the EMU Student Center located at 900 Oakwood Street in Ypsilanti.
Christopher Robbins, professor of Social Foundations at EMU and one of the organizers, explained that the conference aims to deepen discussions about neurodiverse individuals and equip attendees with advocacy tools. Robbins stated, “This isn’t just an event—it’s a celebration of community, inclusion, and the incredible strengths of neurodiverse individuals.”
The conference will feature professionals from various fields such as education, social work, healthcare, law enforcement, arts, and government. They will provide strategies and resources for empowering neurodivergent individuals in different aspects of life including work and education.
Participants can expect to learn practical strategies for supporting neurodivergent individuals, explore legislative initiatives and advocacy efforts, and network with professionals as well as community advocates.
