Eastern Michigan University is set to host its annual Digital Divas Conference on April 11, 2025, at the Judy Sturgis Hill Building in Ypsilanti. The event aims to inspire middle school girls to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The conference will welcome 300 participants who will have the opportunity to engage in workshops covering various STEM disciplines such as construction, interior design, electrical engineering, chemistry, astronomy, physics, and esports. Educators and industry experts will be present to share their experiences and offer guidance.

“We are thrilled to provide young girls with a dynamic and engaging environment where they can discover the vast opportunities in STEM,” stated Mohamad Qatu, dean of the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “Our goal is to spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire the next generation of female innovators, creators, and leaders.”

Schools participating include Stevenson Middle School, Hope of Detroit Academy, Summit Academy North Middle School among others. The event is supported by sponsors like Toyota and DTE Foundation.

Since its inception in 2010, Digital Divas has encouraged over 10,000 students from southeast Michigan to pursue STEM careers. More information about the conference can be found on EMU's Digital Divas homepage.

Eastern Michigan University offers diverse programs through its GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology which focuses on high-demand career fields. Founded in 1849 as Michigan's second oldest public university, EMU serves nearly 13,000 students across various disciplines.
